Born from the deep woods of southern Germany and fueled by the elegance of polo, this unique fashion label has taken the spirit of the Black Forest and the thrill of the sport to craft a style that’s bold, relaxed, and unapologetically different.

“We are two passionate polo players from the Black Forest and created the Blackforest-Polo brand in 2020. The idea: to bring our passion for the sport of polo together with our homeland, the Black Forest, and fashion. From this idea came a brand. We caught up with the founders to ask them a few quick questions about their vision, vibe, and what makes their fashion and philosophy so distinct.

Q&A with the Founders of Blackforest-Polo

  1. How did you come up with the wild idea to start a fashion label with polo spirit and Black Forest flair?
    Our passion for polo and our homeland here in the Black Forest brought us to this seemingly unusual combination.

  2. What’s really behind the name “Blackforest-POLO” – is it more about tradition, style, or an inside joke?
    Honestly, it’s our Black Forest, which is world-famous. Simply a mix of tradition and lifestyle, reinterpreted. …Polo balls on a Bollenhut… :)

  3. Your logo looks cool – what came first: the horse, the tree, or the mallet?
    The horse was clearly the starting point, then came the fir tree – as a symbol for the forest and as a mane. The mallet came last, combining a polo stick with a tree trunk. Unintentionally, it even looks like a knight chess piece. Good move, right?

  4. Which of your products are the most fun – and which are fan favorites?
    We love our cozy hoodies – cool and practical. But the real fan favorites right now are our new caps – trending hard with a bold, stylish design.

  5. Is there a product you constantly wear – maybe even too often?
    Hoodies in the colder season, shirts and caps in the summer.

  6. How important is sustainability – is it a focus or a foundation?
    A very important part of our concept. We use only fair wear production – fair wages, ethical working conditions, and top-tier organic quality.

  7. What’s the story behind your gin – was it spontaneous or heartfelt?
    It was an absolute passion project. As longtime gin lovers, it was a natural first step into lifestyle products. We developed it with a top Black Forest distiller over several weeks – and it’s already won awards.

  8. How do you balance sporty, laid-back, and stylish?
    Polo fashion already has that DNA. We just carried it forward in our own style and vision.

  9. What’s your vision – where do you want Blackforest-POLO to go?
    To the top – far beyond the Black Forest and out into the world.

  10. What’s your personal connection to the Black Forest – home, inspiration, or cake?
    Out of the box: Black Forest cake for the world!

  11. What’s been your most special moment with the polo community?
    There have been many. But the highlight was an invitation from our friend and ambassador Jan-Erik Franck, “The Voice of Polo,” to Wellington, Florida.

  12. Which social media post surprised you by going viral?
    A collab with a Dubai-based influencer. The reach was unbelievable – Blackforest-POLO goes global.

  13. If you could only keep one product – what would be your “desert island” piece?
    The gin bottle – which we could then use to send a message in a bottle… :)

  14. Any wild celeb or event stories?
    When Raul Laplacette wore our black cap on TV in Gstaad, Switzerland. Epic moment!

  15. If Blackforest-POLO were a lifestyle – which three words would sum it up?
    Be The One – our key identity, and a call to be the best version of yourself.
