ENPOLO Feminin: The power of the girls

This Blog is dedicated to all the female players who had or still have the power and the will to go beyond borders and to create a new state of mind - the feminin one.

Once a male-dominated sport, polo has seen a remarkable transformation with women breaking barriers and redefining the game.
From early pioneers to today's champions, women's polo has evolved into a dynamic and empowering arena.

A Legacy of Trailblazers

In the early 20th century, women like Louise Hitchcock, known as the "Mother of Women's Polo," laid the foundation for female participation in the sport.
Despite societal constraints, these pioneers organized their own leagues and tournaments, paving the way for future generations.

Sue Sally Hale, in the 1950s, even disguised herself as a man to compete in tournaments, highlighting the lengths women went to pursue their passion for polo.

Modern-Day Champions

Today, women's polo boasts an array of talented players who have achieved remarkable success:

  • Hope Arellano (USA): A prodigy who began playing at a young age, Hope has become one of the top female players globally.

  • Nina Clarkin (UK): Renowned for her skill and leadership, Nina has been instrumental in promoting women's polo internationally.

  • Hazel Jackson-Gaona (UK): A formidable player known for her strategic play and contributions to the sport's growth.

  • Mia Cambiaso (Argentina): Continuing her family's legacy, Mia has emerged as a leading figure in women's polo.

  • Lia Salvo (Argentina): Celebrated for her exceptional skills and dedication to advancing women's polo.

There is a huge number of young players growing up to be as big as the champions mentioned above! Players like Elena Venot (FR) are close to be a 10 goaler one day.

Global Growth and Recognition

The establishment of dedicated tournaments like the U.S. Open Women’s Polo Championship has provided a platform for female athletes to showcase their talents.
Increased media coverage and visibility have further propelled the sport, inspiring a new generation of players. The USPA is working very hard to help young female payers to achieve a pro level in Polo sport.

There are also a lot of effort made in Europe - especially at the Polo Club in Chantilly where tournaments for woman only are growing with lightspeed.

A Movement Beyond the Field

Women’s polo is more than a sport; it’s a movement symbolizing empowerment, resilience, and the breaking of traditional norms.
As the sport continues to evolve, the contributions of these remarkable women serve as a testament to their passion and determination.

We hope you enjoy it! Your ENPOLO Team
