Happy Birthday Adolfito!

Today, on April 15, 2025, we at ENPOLO join the global polo community in celebrating the 50th birthday of Adolfo Cambiaso—a living legend whose influence on the sport is immeasurable.

A Legacy Born in Cañuelas

Born in Cañuelas, Buenos Aires, Cambiaso’s journey into polo began early. By age 12, he had already achieved a 1-goal handicap, and his talent quickly propelled him through the ranks. At 19, he reached the coveted 10-goal handicap, becoming one of the youngest players to do so .

The Rise of La Dolfina

In 1997, Cambiaso co-founded La Dolfina Polo Team, which has since become one of the most successful teams in polo history. With La Dolfina, he has secured numerous titles, including multiple Argentine Open victories, solidifying his status as a dominant force in the sport .

Innovating the Game

Cambiaso has been at the forefront of innovation in polo, particularly in horse breeding and cloning. After the loss of his champion horse, Aiken Cura, he preserved the horse’s cells, leading to successful cloning efforts. His work in this area has revolutionized the sport, allowing for the replication of top-performing horses and raising discussions about the future of equine genetics in polo .

A Family Affair

Beyond the field, Cambiaso is a devoted family man. Married to Argentine model María Vázquez since 2001, they have three children: Mia, Adolfo Jr. (known as Poroto), and Myla. Poroto has followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a professional polo player and continuing the family’s legacy in the sport .

Celebrating 50 Years

As Cambiaso celebrates his 50th birthday, his recent victory in the C.V. Whitney Cup stands as a testament to his enduring skill and passion for polo . His dedication, innovation, and sportsmanship continue to inspire players and fans worldwide.
